Who are we?

We are a small international friskole* in Denmark, with up to 20 students in each class. Our community brings together Danish and international families who have chosen an education in English, within a setting that remains clearly rooted in Denmark.

From Year 1 to Year 8, we combine the Danish Fælles Mål with the National Curriculum in England. From Year 9, our students prepare for IGCSE examinations.

We are not an elitist school. We are simply a school with a clear profile. Families who choose us value strong academics, calm classrooms and an environment where children are known well.

More than 50 nationalities are represented in our community. English is the shared language of the school, but many other languages and cultures are part of daily life.

You said you are a “friskole”, but what does this mean?

A Danish “friskole” is an independent school. It is privately run but partly funded by the government, and it has freedom to choose its own educational approach. However, students must still reach a level comparable to the Danish public school system.

Why We Were Founded

The school was founded in 2011 to support international families relocating to the area to work for large companies. At that time, there was no English-medium option that offered educational continuity for their children.

What began as a purely international initiative, originally connected to another local friskole, has gradually developed into something more distinctive. Over the years, we have grown into a school that genuinely combines Danish educational culture with an English academic framework.

Today, we serve both international and Danish families who are looking for a smaller, more focused learning environment.

Our Academic Direction

From the early years onward, we follow both Danish and English academic standards. In the upper years, students prepare for IGCSE examinations under the framework of Cambridge International Education.

We believe in clarity, subject knowledge and steady academic progression. Our approach is structured and purposeful, while still allowing space for curiosity and discussion.

Small classes make a difference. They allow teachers to know their students well and create an atmosphere where concentration is possible. This setting works particularly well for children who thrive in calm, focused environments.

The School Environment

On a normal school day, you will notice the quiet atmosphere. Classroom doors are open. There is a sense of trust and accessibility.

You can approach any member of staff and receive a thoughtful answer. Students speak English naturally with one another, yet the school reflects a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.

We celebrate Danish traditions such as Fastelavn, and we also mark occasions like Eid and Chinese New Year. Danish culture is part of who we are, and it sits comfortably alongside a broader international outlook.

A Danish Friskole with an International Mindset

As an independent Danish free school, we are part of the friskole tradition. This means independence, responsibility and close cooperation with families.

At the same time, our academic direction and daily life reflect international standards and an international staff. The balance between Danish structure and English academic expectations shapes our identity.

We are both local and international. And we are comfortable being both.

Expectations and Responsibility

We have clear expectations. Students are expected to complete homework regularly, with increasing responsibility as they grow older.

We ask parents to follow their child’s academic development closely, to stay updated through SkoleIntra, and to support the routines that make learning successful.

We value long-term commitment. When students stay with us over time, they gradually develop independence and ownership of their learning.

We call our students “students”, not “pupils”. Our staff are addressed as Miss, Mr. or Mrs.

These details reflect something simple: clarity, structure and mutual respect.

Looking Ahead

We continue to grow carefully, always protecting what makes the school special: small classes, strong academics, cultural openness and a calm learning environment.

We are a school for families who want something both Danish and international — academically serious, but personal in scale.

You are very welcome to visit us and experience an ordinary school day.
